Charles Tyrrell Q.S.O, M.Th., B.A. Dean Emeritus, Nelson Cathedral

The Very Reverend Charles Tyrrell QSO, M.Th. (Oxon.), BA, SRN.

Charles was born in Liverpool UK, where he trained and worked as a State Registered Nurse in the operating theatres and on the District.  After three years in theological college in London, Charles was ordained to serve in a parish in south Liverpool, and eventually became vicar of a parish in West Lancashire.

In 1988 the family moved to Wellington NZ, where Charles served at St Paul’s Cathedral before being appointed as Dean of Nelson Cathedral in 1994, a position he held for 16 years.  During this time, Charles was pleased to support Elaine in the formation of the NZFCNA, and was privileged to become its first Patron.

Charles serves as chair of the NZFCNA Board and looks forward  to supporting this important ministry at this pivotal time.
